Currently, we are looking for a System Administrator II (Remote) to join the FleetNet team. The System Administrator II is responsible for designing, operating, supervising, and managing the day-to-day and long-term operations of FleetNet’s system infrastructure. This position designs plans, specifying equipment for procurement, and managing servers, server software, storage, and network components. The System Administrator II (Remote) also investigates, maintains, and pursues a secure, highly available, and resilient computing environment for around-the-clock operations. In addition, this position investigates technologies to assist business functions and collaborate with management on options for technical innovations and process efficiencies.


Your contribution may include:

  • Design, configure, and manage Windows and Linux Servers, VMware vSphere virtual environment, Enterprise Storage, and Microsoft Enterprise Products (Exchange, CRM, SQL, IIS, PKI, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, etc.).
  • Manage various non-Microsoft Enterprise Server products.
  • Design, configure, and manage Cisco Network Infrastructure.
  • Assist with management and maintenance of Cisco VoIP Phone System and Communications.
  • Perform Network Monitoring and Troubleshoot Connectivity Issues and Bottlenecks, including basic and advanced diagnostics with vendor support interaction.
  • Design and collaborate on Business Disaster Recover Plans and Procedures and execute them if necessary.
  • Collaborate with Desktop Support Technicians to maintain an optimal technical environment.
  • Provide oversight and collaborate with temporary consultants and contractors performing assistance with infrastructure.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for Desktop Support Technicians.
  • Be available for Tier-2 level support of technical emergencies.
  • Oversee long-term system planning, project design and scheduling.
  • Maintain system administration.
  • Apply system patches and routine maintenance.
  • Perform tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Build and maintain a secure computing environment.
  • Create and administer user and group resources.
  • Ensure systems follow corporate security and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure system integrity, backups, redundancy, fault-tolerance, and other recovery operations.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As the System Administrator II (Remote), you will be a member of the FleetNet Information Technology team in Cherryville, NC. This position can be remote or on-campus. Your work hours will be 8:00AM - 5:00PM with occasional irregular hours depending on workload. Subject to 24 hour elevated/critical support responsibilities and availability as needed

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Services or related field or ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of experience in such fields.

Experience: Four years’ experience in applicable enterprise IT environment consisting of managing servers, storage, networking, and enterprise. Minimum, one-year mid-level to senior-level technical support responsibilities. Comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure related to their appropriate group.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of network technologies. Microsoft SQL Server. Windows Server Operating Systems. VMware vSphere. Cisco Network Device Administration (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, etc.). Technical Experience with Enterprise Server and Storage Hardware. Enhanced knowledge of Microsoft network services (Exchange, Active Directory, PKI, DNS, DHC, IIS, etc.).
