What You'll Do

Currently, we are looking for an ArcBest Sales Representative to join the ArcBest team. The primary responsibility of a Sales Representative is to source and execute cost-effective solutions for truckload shipments through use of the network of approved truckload carriers. Negotiating with providers and carriers on cost and service-levels is required, as well as offering excellent customer-service to ArcBest customers and employees. Collaboration across the multiple departments within ArcBest is necessary in order to provide the best service and customer experience.

All Sales Representatives will participate in the ArcBest Sales Training Program which gives the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience, onsite at our Fort Smith corporate headquarters. During this time you will also receive on-the-job training at one of the ArcBest Asset-light campuses which includes, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and/or Plano, Texas.


The Sales Representative role is just the beginning of your career at ArcBest. After successful completion of our comprehensive 6-week training program, you will be placed in either carrier sales or customer sales. Your path is defined by your talent, effort, and success.

Your contribution may include:

  • Develop and expand a practical and working knowledge of logistics.
  • Meet productivity expectations, including designated daily targets.
  • Effectively manage all forms of communication (i.e. inbound, outbound phone calls and email).
  • Work within assigned team to meet team goals (Truckload, Asset-Light and Company).
  • Source capacity and services to ensure available equipment.
  • Apply negotiating skills and sales techniques to obtain maximum profitability.
  • Develop ArcBest core carrier relationships and aggressively grow a sales territory all while maintaining a superior level of business.
  • Accurately record, transmit, and audit shipment details as needed.
  • Identify and report problems in operational systems and processes.
  • Respond in a timely manner to external and internal customer inquiries.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in an intense environment.
  • Create peace-of-mind by becoming a trusted, creative problem solver who is easy to do business with.

Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred. High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience: 6+ months of logistics experience, preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
