Lead Compensation Analyst

Currently, we are looking for a Lead Compensation Analyst to join the ArcBest team.

Your contribution may include:

  • Serve as subject matter expert on the Company’s job architecture and compensation processes.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of, as well as research for new, salary surveys and contribute data for participation.
  • Assess the need for departmental evaluations and coordinate scheduled evaluations to other analysts.
  • Analyze and stay up to date on compensation policies, government regulations, and wage rates to develop competitive compensation plans for new and existing roles.
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization.
  • Ensure job descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by employees.
  • Interview and survey employees and leaders to gather and document jobs, organizational, and occupation information including duties, qualifications, and skills necessary for each job.
  • Analyze job descriptions to benchmark jobs against market data and other market intelligence for external alignment and benchmark internal positions for internal equity.
  • Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys using spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Assign and maintain job classifications and salary scales for all Senior Director and below roles in the organization.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analyses, compensation analyses, organization flow charts, and career path reports.
  • Research job and worker requirements, structural and functional relationships among jobs and occupations, and occupational trends within labor markets.
  • Consult and effectively communicate with leaders and employees regarding the Compensation Strategy, best practices, comp grade assignments, geographical differentials, and employee compensation.
  • Analyze employee compensation and propose equitable compensation to leaders.
  • Research and assess need for job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Assess and improve efficiencies in current process.
  • Advise management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, policies, human resource procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Lead and organize special projects.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.


As a Lead Compensation Analyst, you will be a member of the ArcBest People Services team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Education:                   Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred.

Experience:                 Minimum, two years’ compensation experience, preferred.

Computer Skills:         Working knowledge of compensation platforms, organization job architecture, and Microsoft Office Suite.
