Currently, we are looking for a Manager, Dedicated Operations and Planning to join the ArcBest team. The Manager, Dedicated Operations and Planning provides leadership and support to Logistics Truckload Dispatchers and Truckload Dedicated Coordinators located on both the East and West coast through the coordination and management of the daily operational activities of the Dedicated operations and planning teams. This position also provides leadership, motivation, coaching, training and development.
The Manager, Dedicated Operations and Planning manages assigned personnel to ensure that dispatched loads are picked up and delivered on time, posted loads have capacity assigned to them on the customer's designated ship date, and carrier approval guidelines and dispatching procedures are being followed to provide reliable capacity to our customers at an appropriate net revenue. This position will focus on managing relationships with carrier partners and customers in order to grow the Dedicated network and provide a high level of service. In addition, this position participates in continuous improvement activities to ensure Company policies and procedures are followed as well as promote and develop a positive work culture.
Your contribution may include:
- Provide assigned personnel, peers, and leadership with operational leadership and support through one-on-one and group coaching and counseling to improve performance, conduct interviews, and provide conflict resolution and training.
- Ensure Company policies are communicated, applied and enforced.
- Direct the necessary daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for employees.
- Deliver assigned personnel coaching, performance reviews, and development plans as needed.
- Ensure assigned personnel have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and maintained.
- Analyze current carrier performance levels and rates and ensure the team is driving carrier retention while maximizing net revenue.
- Analyze routes and drive optimization by eliminating empty miles.
- Communicate and collaborate with other managers to ensure customer satisfaction and Company goals are met.
- Travel for customer meetings, campus visits, and training as needed.
- Recruit and develop coordinators to drive growth and increase talent pool including the interview process of potential employees.
- Maximize quality and productivity by understanding job standards for each function and evaluate performance variances in order to identify root cause and corrective action.
- Plan, manage and adjust the daily workload and staffing to maximize efficiency of the team, and be available to help all team members in a 24/7 operation.
- Ensure daily work schedule is sufficient to meet the needs of dedicated customers in the Western region.
- Manage the east and west regional boards, with emphasis on their assigned teams, calls tracked, offers communicated and shipment coverage.
- Supervise the dispatch performance of assigned coordinators to ensure proper utilization of available fleet capacity.
- Achieve team and company expectations by managing to key metrics.
- Ensure Company standard operating procedures and practices are communicated, applied and enforced.
- Direct the necessary daily fulfillment activity to ensure fair treatment to assigned personnel and customers.
- Understand and apply government, Company and industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with ArcBest leadership to identify areas where policies need to be developed, written, and implemented.
- Organize and communicate load prioritization.
- Communicate work task Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
- Provide a professional environment with relation to external customers such as drivers, dispatchers and customer representatives.
- Provide regional capacity review and preview.
- Work in a team setting to accomplish goals.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.
As the next Manager, Dedicated Operations and Planning, you will be a member of the ArcBest Dedicated Services team. Your hours will vary Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 7:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Transporation, Logistics, or Business, required.
Experience: Minimum, three years' experience with ArcBest Truckload Fulfillment, preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Other Requirements: Knowledge of ArcBest policies, services, computer systems and service capabilities, preferred.
